AVID

Elementary School AVID ( Advanced Via Inidividual Determination) to help students develop skills organization, critical thinking, and collaboration .  It focuses on:

• Organizational Skills:  Students learn how to use binders, planners, and note-taking strategies (like two-or three- column notes).
• WICOR Strategies:  Writing, inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading are intergraded into lessons.
• Growth Mindset:   Encourages perseverance and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Student Centered Learning:  Uses Socratic discussions and goal-setting to build confidence and responsibility.
• College & Career Readiness:  Introduces students to future educational opportunities and career early on.

It's typically implemented schoolwide, with teachers incorporating AVID strategies into different subjects.
